Uncle Mike's Budget Mini-Bike Build part 3

Because we are going to make this a Budweiser themed bike, we will need to paint it red, maybe some white as well.

For a finishing touch I ordered up an old school oval number plate for the front, so I could attach the new Dunn Man stickers I made up

We fabricated a new axle adjuster base from some angle iron to fix one side that had a tab missing

We also welded some tabs on the forks for the front number plate

Then we stripped the bike back down and began removing the old paint

The frame is getting a red paint job, the paint can said, "apple red", but we'll call in Dunnwieser red.

The starter, housing, chain guard and gas tank gets a new coat of white.

Partially assembled

We bought an aftermarket exhaust, designed specifically for this bike, we'll have to see if we need to add a muffler and some wrap.

I then added the Dunnweiser stickers to the sides of the tank

and it is finished:

We later added a muffler and wrapped the entire exhaust with Moroso header wrap. We also added a few more stickers.

just a reminder of what we started with

Uncle Mike's Budget Mini-Bike Build part 2

After riding the bike a bit, we noticed a few things, the front tire refused to hold air, the bead was leaking due to rust and a beat up bead. Also the bike had pretty bad chain slap, and the drum brake was not adequate.

So we ordered up two new tires, the SUNF brand, they have good reviews and a nice-looking tread pattern.

The rear brake kit came with a new back wheel as the drum on the right side needed to be replaced with a hub that could accept a rotor.

To fix the chain slap we ordered this kit, it bolts to the motor and is adjustable.

After lots of sweating and fighting we got the tires mounted. We even painted the front wheel.

then we had to shim out the sprocket so it didn't rub the tire and it lined up with the front sprocket. We also shimmed the rotor.

You will notice the seat is missing, we were trying to figure out what to put for a cover, buy a factory replacement, a blank aftermarket one or make one from scratch out of a mexican blanket or similar material.
Then my neighbor gave me an old bed sheet and said Uncle Mike might like this (he is a Budweiser fan).

I thought the material would be perfect for a seat cover.....a little thin, so we needed some backing material. My wife sewed it some old jean denim material and we used the new cover and the old cover together and recovered the seat.

Now we have decided that this bike needs to be Budweiser themed.....actually Dunnweiser themed..... stay tuned for part 3

Uncle Mike's Budget Mini-Bike Build part 1

This project started with a rolling frame that I bought from a kid down the road for $20. It is a clapped-out Coleman CT200U.

The forks were bent, the tires were bald and flat, the rear axle bolt was missing and replaced with a piece of all thread. The bike had been poorly painted black (was originally red) and the other factory parts were gone.

For the record this is what the Colman CT200U looked like originally.

What appears to be a torque converter cover is actually a cover for a jackshaft. These bikes have a 200cc motor, 19x7x8 tires and a single rear drum brake.

We stripped the bike down and fixed the bent forks

Amazon supplied the new axle bolts, wheel bearings, steering shaft bolt and bearings, new clutch & chain, chain adjusters, rear sprocket, kick stand, chain guard and throttle cable.

A new Predator 212 was purchased from Harbor Freight

the bike ran pretty damn good

After working out the kinks, we rode both our bikes to Uncle Mike's house.
